Thats funny, because KBB says retail is $4555

Speed_Demon 05-16-2006 12:16 PM

He's right. ebay yields about $4250 on a similar bike and I've seen high mileage units asking in the upper $4k range. Good luck!

Speed_Demon 05-16-2006 12:45 PM

Dude just ebay it. It will cost you about $65 and you'll be done with it.

But its financed like I said, think that would be an issue with the buyer?

Speed_Demon 05-16-2006 01:38 PM

You can make anything a condition of the auction. State "Bike is financed. Buyer will pickup locally and be issued a title at the financing agency once paid for." Or someting like that. Just make sure its clear in the auction. Or you could require a deposit for the amount owed, pay for the bike and then allow for local pickup when full paymentis made.

good luck but people are getting brand new 03's still for around $5500 or so. 98's I've rarely seen go for more then $3500

Awesome http://smiliesftw.com/x/bigok.gif Thanks, a local dealer will also show it for 10% on consignment, im most likely going to do that and ask 4000

Hardly, youre telling me to lowball myself, Im not in this to lose money thanks

EngineNoO9 05-16-2006 10:07 PM

ok. I'll look for your post in a month when it hasn't sold. I'd list at $4k but not expect to get more then $3500 (makes it seem like your making a deal, so if you want $4k list at $4.5k and let people "talk" you down to $4k). good luck once again with your sale.

grampi 05-17-2006 12:36 PM

There's nothing wrong with starting the price a little high. You can always come down on the price, but you can never go up.

sprhawk neil 05-17-2006 04:35 PM

maybe offer to throw in the helmet and jacket with the advertised price?that way they think there getting a better deal.Ibought my 99 with 17,000 miles for 3500 with a little nudging but I got nohting with it except a service manual. just a suggestion though good luck.

Not sure if I should get into this or not, but here's my 2 cents. Selling a bike is a unique thing, some areas get more money than others for different kinds of bikes, the weather plays a big part in what people are willing to pay pending on how bad they want a bike to ride because it's finally 80 degrees...ect... Like I always tell my kid who collects hockey cards, "I don't care if the book says that card is worth $300 it's only worth what someone is willing to pay". As far as the value of the bike depends on your area, how bad you want to sell ect... I bought a 98 hawk https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ead.php?t=2738 with 7200 miles on it for $2900, but the guy wanted (needed) it gone. I'm not trying to say "low ball yourself" but if you really want it gone pricing it can be a tricky thing..

Joe....

i'd have to agree with you... i usually see 98's go for around 3k-3.5k, hell i bought my 98 for 1.8k... of course the plastics were trashed.
