HRC CDI

Hi Guys,
Well I'm the one who is actually sell the CDI unit. I had Gerry post it for me as I feel it's not real cool to join a site just to sell something but I guess I'll stick around for a while. Well that and the fact that I have limited internet at this time but Gerry appears to be busy right now, so here I am. Anyways to answer the questions so far. Yes it does advance the timing but unlike a static advancer it completly remaps the advance curve. It changes it enough that the fuel requirement with the unit is 91 oct. It also removes the side-stand switch (you can put the bike in gear with the stand down) and it also raises the rpm at which the rev limiter hit from 10.3k to 11k. Yes it will plug in and work fine with a totally stock bike. Everything will work fine (execpt the side-stand switch) and you will pick up a small gain in the upper rpm range. Where the unit works the best and where you will see the most gains is if you have installed the high comp. pistons and changed the cams. With this set up the CDI unit changes the advance curve to match the new power curve with the peak power comming at a higher RPM. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions.
Cheers,
Mike

It sounds really cool, and totally unneccesary. Someone please buy this before I am any more tempted.

I'd heard concerns before about raising the compression and advancing the ignition in that setting on the superhawk, using nonrace gas at least. Were you using this on a bike with HC pistons, stage 1 cams etc? Did you encounter any problems?

thanks

I believe that the problems occure when using a fixed timing advancer as opposed to a complete new map. I ran the thing with pistons and cams on 91 oct. Ca gas with no problems but yes it did like the race gas when it got some. But of course YMMV

In '01 when Honda change the gauges from analong to digital they also changed the CDI and they are not interchangable.
