i just bought it from you on ebay. lol

DOH !!!
I thought you couldn't do it cause of repair costs on your bike. Sorry for the confusion |
nah i was waiting to get my bike back to see how much it was gonna cost me. it cost more then I wanted but I still need the jet kit...
|
It will make a BIG difference with your aftermarket exhaust.
It really comes alive over about 5500RPM. The term "Jump Naked" comes to mind :D:D:D |
well supposedly there's a kit in it already but I have no clue what and it's never ran real great under 4k (lots of stumbling, lots of popping, seems to be running way rich) this will help cause I get to start from scratch and make sure everything is setup right
|
Follow the directions in the kit & it works pretty good.
I ended up replacing the stock #45 idle mixture jets with #48 (richer) Left the mixture screws at 2 1/2 turns out & worked well...maybe a little rich. Unfortuneately I left the #48 jets in the bike when I sold it. You can get them for about $7 each from a good M/C shop Got your TPS set to 500 +/- 10 ohms? Clean air filter? (sorry - basic stuff I know - had to ask) Do you live under 3000 feet elevation? |
Hey #9, I'll give you 5 bucks for whatever jet kit you've got in there now. *MWAHAHAHAHAH*
|
my idle is good, but below 3k is what's suffering. so i'll probably leave the idle alone and just do the main jets. I'll check the tps when I do this as well

Hey #9, if you could let me know what you end up with for settings? Looks like from your picture you have Erion pipes? I do as well. Funny story, more like "i'm an idiot" funny, but I knew I had aftermarket springs and needles in my bike; dropped the front float bowl on-bike and checked the main to find a #175. So I figured I had stock fuel chamber settings. I ordered up the Erion jet kit, which is a Dynojet kit specially tuned by Erion folks (wink, wink). I've had good luck with these types of kits in the past (Holeshot) so I spent the extra money on the kit. Funny thing is that the suggested Erion settings are a #175 front and #180 rear so checking only the front carb doesn't tell the story. I guess I wasn't surprised to take the carbs out and find an Erion kit already in my bike. I also never checked for the lift-hole in the top of the slide but sure enough there it was. I'm interested to see how this compares to the standard Dynojet settings for the VTR. Looks like folks are going as high as #190's and beyond, but these near-stock setting work really well with the Erion pipes.
The most improvement I think came from cleaning things out, specifically the slides and their channels. The front slide was sticking pretty badly, even after gently brushing the grove and blasting it out with carb cleaner. I found small burs on the plastic slide that I gently sanded out and am now getting much better off-idle performance. |
hey does that mean this comes with the stock idle jets? just in case mine have been switched to something else?
|
Yes the stock idle mixture #45 jets are included in the kit.
|
k sweet. ill prob throw those on
