i definitely recognize that bike. i wish i could buy it, mine works just fine though. what ducati or triumph are you looking at?

Condor 08-08-2008 01:03 PM

the three bikes im agonizing over are the 848, the S4R s Testastretta or the Speed Triple.

bowhawk 08-08-2008 02:35 PM

Ducati

The S4RS is a wicked bike. The motor is scary. If you haven't ridden one, ride one first. It is almost too much motor for that bike. Almost. Cheers.

WTF is the deal with the Supe...had this on craigslist for like 3 weeks and gotten ONE call from a guy who asked me "what kind of bike is it?"

killer5280 08-09-2008 12:38 PM

It is an old, out of production, never-very-popular, cult bike. Unfortunately, as great as it is, it appeals to a very limited cross section of potential motorcycle buyers; most people just don't "get" it. (Many of them are those I pass on the outside on my out of date "sport touring" bike.)

i plan on coming back to one as a project bike in a few years, and i really love the thing, but damn. people just dont get it.....

Nice bike. Looks like mine (pipes and undertail) but I've got proton flashers. Good luck with the sale!!!

Blueracer 08-10-2008 11:07 AM

All the above comments are right. My wife asked me to sell mine I got a great deal on it but wasn't real keen on the color so not a big deal to sell. I had a tough time selling it. My 2005 $4600 with 645miles. I am back on the hunt for a blue one to match my gear and little less they tend to go for $3800. Too bad you are far away. I kick myself ... before I knew what a Hawk was there was one for sale 200 miles away for $35oo with 7k. It was up for 2 months I researched it ... found I liked them then it sold. Good luck.

Nice

Sweet looking bike man, if it's as nice and clean as it looks it'll sell don't worry. If I had the extra green I'd buy it and make my 98 a track bike.

Still think red is faster tho :evillaugh:

price drop

RK1 08-12-2008 01:42 PM

My opinion is that good VTRs aren't worth selling for the price you gotta drop them to.

Right now people are worried about money. The only 2 wheelers selling are scooters and 250 Ninjas. Explain this to your lady, be especially nice to her. It just makes sense to keep the VTR and buy whatever else you want. Unless you're short of food or rent money, it's time to buy, not sell.

PS I laugh every time I read that Thomas Szasz quote. I read Ideology And Insanity in college. Great book.

Yes, I love the Hungarian literature and perspective (as I am....Hungarian). But If I told my wife to let me have two bikes, no matter how nice it comes out of my mouth, I think she would jack me in the snot locker :violin:

That is the best and worst part about the VTR. Sorry to see her go.

Condor 08-26-2008 09:18 AM

Bump and price drop. This shit has to go. 4000 OBO. if I sell the jardines, ill edit the sale post to reflect that.

Condor 08-26-2008 10:00 AM

Also, this bike is good for the environment and runs on either angel kisses or unicorn farts. it also gets 100mpg.

unicorn farts are a main cause of global warming, you're doing a service to this world by burning them up in your bike ;)

good luck with the sale

What would you take for the Jardines?
