need help on regulater
got r1 regulater on it and its reading same as before, so it isn't the regulater. volts on idle read 14.2 but rev it up and voltage drops drastically 2000rpm it down to 5v

no not yet I havent, truth be known I am not very good at all this but learning lol. anyhow I may be ok but batt reads 13.1v on its own (off) yet it isn't enough to start the beast just barely too low. So I have to boost it off. after I went back out and restarted it (boosted) I again checked and it was reading it charging at 14.7v@2000rmp so I am hoping in the morning when I am fresh and I have a fully charged battery I will recheck again and if all seems good test it out.

well this morning after charging all night the battery still needed a jump to give it that extra to start it. I ran it a few miles and saw that the readings looked good (on the multimeter) but after shutting it off and restarting on its own, it wouldnt start again after 2nd try. So I went to wallymart and bought a new battery and a smart charger (my shop charger has no light to tell when its full). anyways put the new charger on it and it shows its really low even when multimeter says its at 13.4v so tells me that the battery was shot (only 1 month old) by the regulater. anyways got a new battery and charging it right now...

update for anyone that cares, I cut fins off the r1 regulater/rectifier only enough to fit the exact shape (rounded) and size to fit cowl back on. and bought new battery and ran it several times and shut it off and restarted no problems so far..even seem to notice the bike runs a lot smoother and appears to have more power although that may be just me?

this was a carry over from other post jim, stock reg went bad and ruined a new battery, then I opted for the mosfet r1 regulater/rectifier and then a new battery...everything is all good again or appears so anyways

bikes running like a champ now (even got caught in a heavy rain today) gave me an oppertunity to not only see if everything is sealed well from rain, but also see how the new tires I put on handle the water. sliced thru the water like nothing (was conserned as these tires on these bikes look like they have more slick than traction lol ). Alls good!!!!

You should try adding an additional ground wire directly from the R/R to the negative terminal of the battery. I've also found it helpful to do the same with the positive, but for most people getting a good ground is enough.
