I'm curious as to what other members temp gauges read during riding. Mine is consistently around the halfway mark, sometimes a little higher when I'm not moving. On cold days (<40f) it will fluxuate between quarter and half depending on how fast I'm going. It doesn't matter if I'm commuting or ripping around, its always the same.

Just wondering if that seems high to other people or if I have a higher temp thermostat in it.

Well mine is usually somewhere between 1\4 & 1\2 depending on the day and how hard I'm riding.

Don't get me started on temp. Mine runs 1/2 way in 40* ambient, 2/3 in traffic or stopped. Still want to track down the issue.

Mine never goes higher than slightly above halfway. I've got the old analog dash so I don't really know what temperature that is. I assume it's right at 218°, since that's when the fan comes on, though I can't find that number anywhere in the service manual.

What are the temps of each mark on the gauge? If its a hot day it will stay at the half way mark, but the fan will kick on and keep it there so it doesn't over heat, I'm just uneasy about it registering that high on the gauge if its not normal

That seems about normal. Fan is designed to keep the bike at 212F (or 100C... there's a 100 on the side of your fan switch). Sometimes there's a lag because of coolant flow so it'll kick on around 218 and bring it back down. But that's a safe temp. You're getting dangerous in the 240-250 range and emergency is around 270 I believe. Where you located again?

Mine is usually in the white zone below the red zone. I am pretty sure that red is hot, white is cold. So, mine always runs cold. I wish it would run in a medium temperature range, but Honda didn't put an orange or yellow on the gauge. Hmmm, maybe I can pull the cover off the gauge.

I am in Pismo Beach, CA. Right on the coast halfway between LA and San Francisco. It rarely gets below 30 on winter mornings, with average temps of low 70s, sometimes low 100s on very hot summer days.

Hell my shadow didn't even have a gauge. It just had an orange "warning temp" light that I only saw go on when I turned the key initially.

Out of site, out of mind. If the manual recommended that it run at 205 and it ran at 210 all the time it'd drive you nuts!
