The agony of defeat

The agony of defeat
So I recently posted my 1st place in a CCS sanctioned race in NH.
Well, this weekend turned out differently.
Like 8 broken ribs and a broken scapula different.
I was on course to do a personal best lap time and passed my closest rival mid lap. Just to make sure I could gap him at the front straight (he has me hugely on HP) I got on the gas extra early at the apex.
A bit too early. I spun up the rear which of course came around. I get a slide in this turn every lap.
But this time I tried to stay on the gas and just shifted my weight rearward.
The bike threw me twice and I saved it twice.
But not the 3rd time, that was a massive highside.
Well, I am out of the hospital and home. Just the broken bones, no scrapes, no blood, fingers, toes and limbs are fine. God is good.
I can say for sure it was way worse to do a collar bone. This crash actually landed me on my titanium collar bone and it held up just fine.
But the scapula was the next crumple zone and it broke.
Anyway, happy to be home and OK.
And don't you kids try this at home. There goes my championship......

Well that sucks, though good to hear your posting from home, and not the great beyond..Bones heal, bikes can be rebuilt and chicks dig scars, or at least this is what I tell myself repeatedly while waiting on the next scan or xray

Was going great just before going airborne.

Actually, its the scapula that's causing me the most angst. I guess you get used to the ribs but the shoulder is debilitating.
Annoying but am very blessed to have fingers, toes, wrists, ankles etc all intact and not a scrape on me.

Thanks badboy, been on road since 7 or 8 weeks after but just didn't feel fit enough for the track this season. Hope to be ready for next season.
I could have done it physically but didn't want to hit the ground before fully healed.

I likewise did not see you failed to keep the rubber side down (how cliche of me) but very happy to hear you are up n' at em!
What do you race? Presumably not your VTR1000F.
I have been infrequently on the forum this summer / fall due to my own health issues which have forced me to mostly ride my 2015 FJ-09 (Red of course), which I bought new this last July*. Consequently, I've spent most of my "web time" on the FJ-09 forum and wrenching time modding up the FJ.
It is SO weird getting on and riding the VTR after putting a lot of miles (8,000 since July) on the FJ. The layouts between the two are hugely different. I feel like a gorilla on a bicycle on the VTR, and like I'm an old man at the dinner table on the FJ.

It only hurt for the first 12 inches but the biopsy was even worse...
