This has been discussed a few time before. I did the headers to help keep heat off the oil filter and motor. I was worried that it would heat up the exhaust gas and kill my mufflers. Was also worried about corrosion under the wrap but guys came on and said they had no issues so I still have mine wrapped.

I have to repack the mufflers once a year but had to do that anyway.

I say do it but be sure to soak it in a bucket of water and wrap it when its wet. Then it will shrink tight.
