Machinists - Anyone wanna make a petcock lever?

Was thinking of like a T-Handle that can slip into the petcock (or we tap the petcock and mount the T-Handle with a socket head cap screw)...

Anyone thought about this before? Would be cool to have one so we didn't have to break out a wrench to turn the petcock on and off...

Breaking out a T-handle would be much cooler I have to admit. Unless it were mounted, then it would just be a bit neater.

Yeah I was thinking either a press-fit T-Handle, or one that mounts with a socket head cap screw....

Do you have need to shut the petcock off other than in the garage to do some wrenching where a wrench is, presumably, handy? Not knocking the idea, just wondering.

Nope... I just know how machinists like to make aluminum parts

I just think it looks/seems ridiculous like it is

Sometimes i get bored and think of useless things to do.

Hmmmmm. Another useless project to work on. I like it !!

I've got the tank off right now, I'll look and see if something can be machined. But don't wait up on me...I'll see if I come up with something.

Be sure to integrate some way to indicate closed and open or on and off.

Hate to state the obvious but why not just use one from another bike? 1200 Bandit looks to have the same fitting and is a T handle.

I'm all for using something simple and cheap, if it fits, and doesn't look hokey...

I don't understand how that **** works, our taps look totally different, and have a square piece that the **** would slide over....?

IIRC, I believe the XL had the same square ****. I need to verify again to be sure, or, Wicky can chime in to confirm.

Maybe someone could machine an adapter.

Yup the Veradero fits (with a little work with a craft knife) on the VTR tap and the screw goes through into the threaded hole on the VTR tap.

1 Varadero with x2 fuel taps will sort out 2 VTRs

I believe you can still get the lever at the dealer. Much less expensive then 20 pounds.
Since the tank is off, I'll stop by my dealer tomorrow to check.
