I'd be interested in the final number of trials it took to dial it in.

You make it sound like im finished.....

Far to many to count. I made the mistake of trying leaner when it wanted richer.

I cant find any jets larger than the ones I'm currently running (198/200). I found some information that says for example, if you want a 120 jet (Mukini), you would use a 1.20mm drill bit. Is this correct?

I have several stock jets that can be drilled out on the drill press. I just need to find some metric drill bits in 2.0mm, 2.05mm, 2.10mm, 2.15mm, 2.20mm, 2.25mm and 2.3mm.

I measured the Kehin jets and they look to be metric. So have drilled to suit. All I know is with a 2.10 bit she goes like stink.

Rider following me yesterday said he can smell my exhaust. But it goes better than it ever has.

Well at my track day today at high rpm I was getting misses. I think she was leaning out.

Should I try one more shim or 220s?

Will find out soon, mate on a GSXR750 was trying to keep up and he was behind me for one full session. And he had a go pro on. That should show what was coming out of my pipes.

He could not keep up with me out of turns.

So after watching about 20min of footage from behind me I have concluded 2 things. One is the bike does not show any richness out of the pipes. Two my bike pulls away from a GSXR750 at full throttle.

Happy days

Loves it and getting good economy.

Its pretty crap as im hopless at good edits. But you get the idea.

Taken from my mates helmet cam on a GSXR750. He has better corner speed than me by miles. Good way to get a vid done as I can see my bad body position which Im working on now.

And another. Have filled a hole in each slide since this and found more midrange.

Awesome! I'm glad one of us will finally figure out what kind of power this F.I.L. mod makes.

You mention two more mods. What other mods are you planning?

Been running the bike all this week. Screw the salt & sand on the roads. Washing the bike only takes an hour anyways. It's worth it! I've been changing jets along the way. I installed a Flow Commander and WOW does this make tuning a crap ton easier! Man, is this a fantastic product. For those of you on the fence, BUY IT. I would almost go as far as saying you should buy this to tune in your FIL mod. It's $160, but totally worth it.

Right now, my settings are:
Front
Main 205
Pilot 48
Fuel screw 2 turns out

Rear
Main 210
Pilot 48
Fuel screw 2.25 turns out

Flow Commander 1.5 turns out.

The power keeps getting better up top. Fuel economy is getting better as well. It seems like it would get worse using more fuel, but I am getting more and more miles out of a tank of fuel. I keep having to recalibrate my Veypor gauge.
Trying to tune in the low end is the issue for me. It is really crisp, but I feel it can be better. I might go down to 45 pilots if these 48's don't work out.

Spoot, if you are reading this, your FIL mod lid will be finished next week. I have Monday-Wednesday off of work, so it will be done and painted then man.

Of course I'm reading
Good timing, I get my trailer out of deep storage this weekend and will do a little prep for this years track season.
Then, of course, taking it in for a dyno tune !!

Spoot, you might want to look into getting some metric drill bits, unless your dyno guy has them on hand. Over 200 mains and you need to drill the jets, because as far as I have found, nobody makes them any bigger for our carbs. The drill bits are cheap. Cost me like six bucks to get drill bits up to 230 mains.

Since you are doing the tuning on the dyno, disregard my mention of the Flow Commander.

That looks like the direction I'm headed in. However, it just didn't feel right to jump right down to 45's and skip over the 48's.

Now that I replaced the carb float bowl phillips head fasteners with stainless allen head fasteners, it makes it a lot easier to change jets without removing the carbs. I can change jets in ~10 minutes now.

It makes life a lot easier doing it that way.

I would like to try a different needle profile as I think the stock one is to lean. thats why when we lift the needle so much we end up with low end problems.

I haven't had any low end problems with my Factory Pro needles when I raise them. I have a picture showing the difference between the Dyno Jet needle and Factory Pro needle. I'll find the picture and update this post.

I just put on about 90 miles today with the 48 pilots and it is still too much. I'm putting in the 45's tonight.

With the 205F 210R I have the Flow Commander set at 1 turn out and it keeps getting better the more I turn it in (making it richer). I might jump up to 210F 215R and fine tune with the Flow Commander.

For the life of me, I can't remember which needle is which. I think the Factory Pro needle is on the bottom and Dyno Jet on top.
Edit: Thank you for the correction Micky! Dynojet is on the bottom and Factory Pro is on the top.

I can call him to check...but, given his pedigree, it might be an insult to ask??

Bill from Motorcycle Performance.
He has been tuning since time began. Kind of a Burt Monroe type, if you will. He is (and has been) tuning a variety of bikes that are out doing land speed records for years.
