2003 Wiring Harness Modification Question

Hi. I have a question about converting to a 2001-2005 Wiring Harness (US). I think that I now have all the necessary parts, but I want to be certain before launching into the project. (I asked my local Honda Dealership, but they looked at me like I had just launched an SBD beer-fart.)

Aside from WIRE HARNESS 32100-MBB-A20; SENSOR, ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE 36151-MC7-003; MODULE, IGNITION CONTROL (CDI) 30410-MBB-A21; CONVERTER UNIT, C.D.I. 30450-MBB-E31; FUEL UNIT SET 37080-MBB-A20; METER ASSY., COMBINATION 37100-MBB-A21 (Speedo/Gauge Cluster); and STARTER MOTOR ASSY. 31200-MBB-A41--all of which I have, are there any other sensors or components that differ from a 1998 VTR and that I need to buy to complete the wiring harness conversion?

Thanks.

Correction

There was a copy-and-paste error in the question above: I didn't mean to include SENSOR, ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE36151-MC7-003, which is used on all 1998-2005 VTR1000F's. I meant rather to include 37750-KV3-951 THERMO UNIT, for the digital temperature gauge in the 2001-2005 gauge cluster. (I accidentally copied Item 14 instead of Item 15 in the Partzilla VTR1000F Water Pipe parts list.)

So what exactly are you doing? Just changing the wiring harness? Trying to upgrade the gauges? Not sure I get it.

Thanks for asking for clarification. I am changing the whole she-bang--wire harness, dash, ignition module, convertor unit, , etc. (which is a necessity for the digital gauge upgrade, anyway.) The 2003 eBay-purchased wire harness came equipped with turn signal relay and starter-switch fuse and relay.

(This is part of a performance engine upgrade, and--more importantly--I want a working friggin' fuel gauge, a digital temperature gauge, and dual trip-meters. My 1998 VTR trip-meter switch broke four years ago, and my low-fuel-level sensor assembly quit working over seven years ago. Enough with periodically looking down into the fuel tank!) lol

I think that I have all of the components for the conversion on-hand now, but thanks for the effort, just the same.

cheers,

You didn't need the whole harness btw. All the wires are there, you just change the connections.

I upgraded to a cbr600rr dash which has digital temp, speedo etc. I just put a cbr sender in the tank and used the 98 harness.

A whole new harness is a lot of unneeded work. (IMO)
