Looks really good, from one fabricator to the next you have skills. At any rate I never understood the chopper. However part of the reason they don't float my boat is because it seems as though most of them are about how much money can be thrown at them. Both in chrome paint, and tooling. Now I don't know what to think of yours since it is a total budget build, but I can say I appreciate the skill to complete such a project, and posting it here is the place to do it. I think enough of us here enjoy this stuff to warrant it being here.

Not a chopper guy myself, I may never be, BUT, I can definitely appreciate the craftsmanship. I am even jealous of your abilities.

Nice work. Thank you for sharing it with us. Keep us posted, please.

Nice work mate. A chopper is not my thing either, but I appreciate good work.

Maybe a "sports" frame can be your next project. A full tube frame VTR would be sweet!!!!!

After this, a sports frame would be a breeze. I have a few other builds on the go to distract me from this when my head isn't in it. It does feel like I've bitten off too much sometimes.

I would use different Tubing for a Race Frame though. This isn't going to be very light.

Thanks man. I don't think the buget will run as far as paint, so for the first year at least, I will just ride it in bare metal soaked in WD40.

I ****** hate Chrome.
We have a saying here in the UK:-
Chrome won't get you home. Matt Black will get you back!

I'm not a chopper guy at all. I've had Fireblade's, FZR's, I've got a 1200 Bandit, and I've had this Shitstorm for 8 years. However I do like to ride my Trikes in the summer so this has probably come from that somehow.
I must admit since starting this build I have noticed the girls are more into this rusty wreck than some of the shiney sports bikes I have had. Weird??? I even got asked if it could be used as a prop in a barlesk show the other day.

Nothing to be jealous about mate. A few hours a night is all it takes. I've been playing around in the shed for 2 years now and there is no way you'll get me back on that sofa.

2002 Yam R1 seat, VFR800 Swingarm, TL1000 cans on homemade downpipes.
I bought the original bike after a rear end crash so just built up out of parts I had in the shed or got given.

I wouldn't call this engineering. It is more a case of 'having a go'.
When I get some cash together I'm going to enrole on a Lathe and Milling course at college.

All of these picture were taken on a crappy Phone Cam.
I bought a good Camera a few weeks ago so you will see the up date pictures a lot better once I get round to copying them over here.

I want to clarify that even though I am not and will never be a chopper guy, the level of workmanship displayed here is utterly impressive

It would have been a tempting project at one time but we are up to our ***** with Sports bikes and steetfighters in the UK
so I wanted to have something different in the carpark.
After getting taken around the Bike shows and Chop Shops in Thailand I knew that this would be the way forward.
It wasn't something I planned specifically for the VTR, it's just that was the bike I had off the road at the time because my
girlfriend dropped it and snapped the Gearlever.

I have no discremination towards any bike that has been altered from stock. Not even Mopeds, Scooters or Lawnmowers.
If they have an engine and wheels then they need to be fuct about with!

I didn't feel like doing any work, but lets face it. What else are you going to do when you're ill? Watch TV? **** that ****.
I had an half arsed attempt at making a Rear Guard but it didn't stay on there for too long.

This was where I got to in mid October when I had one bad day making the seat tubes and my brain finally popped.
I was just setting about to slice the whole thing up when my friend cut the Power on the shed. I had done 200 hours on it in a month so I was sick of the sight of it.

WoW... what a cool build !

looking at it though i'm wondering how your going to reach over any tank ?
i've never read where anybody had any success using pods & putting the airbox on would make it pretty high vs. seating position ?

Actually, you could make a fuel tank to fit under the seat and just use an airbox as a tank dummy... That would definetly bring down the height a bit... Need a pump though to feed upwards...

BTW placing the battery in the swingarm is a stroke of genius... Might be "bad" in sportbike terms ie unsprung weigth, but here it won't matter much...

I wish I had those tools... Than I could really get myself in trouble... Hohumm... I need to work on my wishlist for next x-mas...

Right from the start of this job everyone always asks about the Rads and
the Tank.
They are 2 thing that I'm not even worried about because I can see it in
my head.
I'm more concerned with where to hide the Shopping bag full of Black boxes.

Well... If you didn't like my idea with fuel under the sadle there will be plenty of space there... There are only two of them... Well, there are the coils as well, but there not boxes...

They are both fairly high end builds for Thailand but it was this one that really got my attention.
It is a Buell that was built on the pavement outside a big market in Bangkok.

If U don't mind answering, you said you were sick, so whats up with that and your "normal" day job?

What ur doing is following a old tradition of cobbling up whats in ur minds eye. Its the process and life style that is important. It may run light **** and handle like crap but it will be urs.

I think you mis-understood that.
It was half a comment from another page I copied with the photo by accident.
It was a day that I got sent home from work early because I felt like crap. I tryed resting up but ended up going into the shed anyway and trying to make a rear mudguard.

I had thought of a reserve tank in the seat. I want about a 80 mile range.
This bike is smaller than you think I will struggle to get those 2 boxes
under the seat and also the heat from the exhaust might not be too good
for them.
I will find out if I need to run with both on those CDi units. I will be making
my own loom and keeping things simple.

I know the dimensions of that engine quite well, so yeah I know the constraints... But they should be able to fit there along with the exhaust... Wrap the pipe and add a heatshield...

Another option (but it might blow the budget) would be to stick them with the battery, and change that for a LiFePo battery pack see here for info... It's about half the size or less than stock, so there should be room for the boxes there as well...

Cheers for that.
It is something I hadn't concidered. The other idea I had was to but the Battery behind the headstock if it will fit??
There is some more options that you will see when I can get all the picture up to date. There is a bit more to it than what you see so far.

The budjet hasn't been touched too much yet because I bought the Pipe bender, Steel, shocks and a few other things with the cash I got from selling off a few parts of the old bike. There is more I can sell if I get stuck or take on some paying work??
