Windscreen Refinish

Have been wanting to refinish the windscreen for a while now to remove the scratches and a brake fluid spooge, oops. So yesterday took it off and went at it with a headlight restore kit that I had used a few years ago. What I forgot is the 3000 grit foam disc was sorta trashed. Went at it with the 500 and then the 800. Went right to the polishing compound. Nope. Can't skip a step. Now I have to see if the local auto body supply place has the 3000 and 5000 grit discs. If not, it looks like ebay will be my source. The price on those things is all over the place.
Photo of the first pass with the 500.

Definitely can't skip steps. Brake fluid is nasty chit. If I spill any @ the shop on any part of a bike, I remove it NOW and use a polish spray all over the affected area. The detail guy we have uses liquid compounds to do screens. Never seen him use anything else.
