Question about guages
Sup fellas, proud new VTR owner here. I just picked up my 2000 Hawk a couple days ago and I love it, but I have a question. Has anyone swapped the guage cluster from like a 00 model with one of the newer style clusters that has the digital fuel guages and the like? Is it a "simple" plug-n-play type installation or is there much more to it than that? I tried searching but came up empty. Lookin forward to getting to know you guys better and stealing all your ideas

Re: Question about guages
You will have to get the newer fuel level sender since your bike merely has a low level sender, but the rest should be a plug in since I just went the other way to make 929 gauges work.
Yes I do have what you need, including gauges.

Thanks for the responses gents. kai ju, how much money would it take for you to be willing to part with your stuff? Feel free to PM or email me if you dont want to talk $$ on the board. BTW, what is the benefit of running 929 guages (I'll have to be honest, I've never been close enough to a 929 to see the guages)?

Re: Question about guages
If you look at my posting "The new guy and his VTR" you'll see why I used the 929 gauges.
Hadn't really thought about selling the takeoffs but let me do some research ( I have no idea what they are worth ) and I'll get back with you.
In the mean time think of a number yourself and let me know.
By the way the odometer has about 21000 miles on it

Re: Question about guages
Judging by the parts fiche, the large wiring connectors look totally different. And yes you would need the newer models fuel float sensor. I would also think the water temp switch would be different.

Re: Question about guages
in my opinion... it's prolly more trouble than it's worth. all you get is a fuel gauge and a fancy temp read out. the fancy temp read out will just make you worry about how hot your bike is running (see this thread). and the fuel gauge... well, if tank is not empty now it will be soon. go ahead and fill up again cause she only gets 30mpg.
