Fuel shut-off valve?

Fuel shut-off valve?
Hello,
I'm the almost-proud new owner of an '03 SH996. I literally just got home with it, and I can't get it started. It turns over plenty, but isn't really firing.
Unfortunately I don't have the owner's manual, the previous owner couldn't find it. So, I do not know if this bike even has a fuel shut-off valve like a lot of older bikes or not. I looked around and couldn't see anything obvious anywhere.
Could someone please either tell me where it is or let me know that I'm looking for a ghost?
Thanks!

I think the fuel petcock is internally controlled my the engine vacuum but you may want to wait for someone more senior as I only bought my 03 last year.
Also, I know it's a stupid question but are you using the choke to start it? Remember, the hawk is not fuel injected, it wont start like most others. Up here in Canada mine won't start at all when the engine is cold w/o being choked first for at least 30-40 seconds.

The kill switch only stops the spark. The engine will still crank over. That's normal for a bike.
I believe there is a fuel shut-off on the underside of the tank. You have to unbolt it and tilt it up.

Welcome, and the fuel petcock is mounted to the bottom of the rear part of the tank. It is vacuum controlled so you don't have to turn it on, there is a manual shut off on it when you remove the tank. If you take the two tank bolts off front of the tank you can lift the tank to access the petcock. I would remove the fuel line to see if anything is comng out. There is a screen to catch stuff mounted to the petcock in the tank. If you remove any lines from the petcock make sure to put them back in the same place as that can cause what you are describing. I would try to narrow it down to fuel or electrical.
