Re: Chance to win a Super Hawk
I'm embarrassed to admit this but here's my story about one these "raffles".
I was sent a link to a CBR954 raffle held by a Honda sport riders forum or sumsuch. I bought 3 $10 tickets and promptly forgot about it. I finally got around to checking on it about a year later. (yup, totally my fault)
Not long after my purchase, the auction was declared illegal (AFAIK, you need to be a legal registered non-profit to hold raffles). SOME of the more vocal people got their money back. Being that I had used PayPal, I thought I was covered but it passed their expiration date for refunds/arbitration.
OTOH, I have particpated in several raffles (new tires, shocks, etc) on vfrdiscussion.com that were to offset the operating costs. The list owner had a published paypal file showing all the accounting.
