190 rear tire

190 rear tire
I've searched and found nothing. Does anyone know if a 190 rear tire would fit our bikes? If so would it affect the ride ie. cornering and so on?It about time for a new rear and a neighbor has a new one he's not gonna use.

The topic has definitely been discussed. You should modify your search parameters.
IIRC, the main drawback was the profile of the tire would be pinched, leading to less-desirable handling characteristics than if you use a 180. There should be enough clearance between the chain and swingarm, and the rear tire.

Correct, the 190 would adversely affect handling. It will act to slow the turning of the bike. Since we are all looking for ways to quicken it, you realize that this is a set backwards.

Exactly right, some racers choose to go to a size smaller than the suggested size because it creates a more rounded profile, which allows quicker turn-in. The drawback is obviously less rubber and traction, but I'm just repeating what I've overheard at the track.

Re: 190 rear tire
It's been done, and here's what it looks like.

The 190 is shorter than a 180, so it lowers the rear.
I've also used 170's, they're taller than a 180 and raises the rear of the bike.
All three work, and all three change the way the bike handles.
You decide which works best for you.

Re: 190 rear tire
One thing you could look at is the new 190/55 (as opposed to the "standard" 190/50) found on the new ZX-10R. The taller aspect ratio could help to address some of the lowering effect.

Re: 190 rear tire
its been my impression that the only reason to get a 190 would be if a 180 doesn't give you enough patch for whatever hp you're generating (ie. wheel spin, or preventing cutting loose coming out of corners) since the superhawk only has about 105hp, that's not likely anyway unless you make a mistake. I agree with everyone else here. additional contact patch is unnecessary, and lowering the rear, and slowing handling are the last thing you want to do to this bike.

If the look is of the fatter tire is what you are after the 190/55 off the ZX10 would probably be the best fit. If you could find a wider wheel that would be a bolt on or someplace that makes a conversion you could probably fit a 200 if there is enough clearance.
10mm wider is almost a 1/2" wider than stock but the stock rim wasn't designed with a 190 in mind. It would work but to really get the effect you might be after you would have to find a wheel the right width for a 200mm tire that would fit the bike.
With the proper sized wheel you will get the full effect of the tire. Handling won't be as good but if you want the look of the big fat tire on the back that might not be a priority for you.
